The Department of Business Management
Nestled in the sprawling, sylvan campus of Osmania University, the Department of Business Management has been conducting a two-year postgraduate programme in Business Management since 1964. It was established as an independent entity in 1971.
Recognising that ‘change’ is the ‘mantra’ of today’s corporate world and the department being autonomous in its functioning and curriculum planning, it keeps updating itself to adapt to the ever-changing demands of today’s corporate world.
The department trains 80 students every year with the best of faculty and facilities. The faculty comprises of intellectually stimulated academicians having a vast experience that enables them to impart practical knowledge. They are in touch with the practicalities and intricacies of business and are constantly striving to transform the students into successful and progressive leaders of the future.
The department takes pride in providing its students with the best of facilities like, an excellent library, state-of-the-art computer laboratory and a well-equipped auditorium. Programme Offered

A bookworm’s paradise, the library is well equipped with a wide range of management literature. It is an epicentre of learning and reference. It has an excellent collection of over 32, 000 books on management and allied fields. The library subscribes to about 110 foreign and Indian journals and periodicals in functional and general areas. The library also stocks more than 2, 000 project reports and various thesis for reference.
The students also have access to the University Main Library which has more than 5, 50, 000 books, 400 periodicals, 58, 000 bound volumes of journals, 145 microfilms and a vast collection of CD-ROM’s. Information Systems
‘Indigo’, the Computer laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art computers with Pentium IV Processors. A UNIX server and Dell 450 MHz, P II dual configuration, Windows NT server support the network. Latest electronic databases, a range of software packages and Internet are available. The department also subscribes to latest versions of software such as SPSS, accounting packages such as Focus, Tally and Database Management packages such as Oracle 8i.
Sports and Other Facilities
Osmania University has numerous stadium and extensively spread-out playgrounds for Cricket, Football and Basketball. It also facilitates for indoor games, a well-equipped gymnasium and a swimming pool. The recent addition is a velodrome, which was used for the National Games in December 2002.
Auditorium
An Auditorium with a capacity of 300 seats used for seminars, functions and cultural events is available in the department, among several other auditoriums in the University.
